The first pictures of the seven seat, Fiat 500 XL production ready vehicle, have been spotted on a Spanish car forum. The pictures show the brand new elongated Fiat 500L. The car is very similar to the 500L from the C-Pillar to the nose, though it does get a longer overhang at the rear and a bigger quarterlight rear window. There has been no official information released yet on the latest Fiat 500 family member, though the Fiat 500XL is expected to measure around 200 mm longer than the 500L.
The Fiat 500L and XL will mirror the Ford C-Max and Grand C Max model line ups
Both the 500L and XL models will be extremely similar to the Ford C-MAX and Grand C MAX model line-ups. The 500XL is expected to feature an extremely similar interior to the 500L, though it adds 2 third row seats to the rear of the vehicle which can be folded away if extra room is required.
The line up of engines is expected to be the same as that of the 500L, which include a two cylinder 105 brake horsepower 875 cc Twin air, a four cylinder 1.4 litre 95 brake horsepower petrol engines and a 85 brake horsepower 1.3 litre and 105 brake horsepower 1.6 litre Multijet diesel engines.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed that the 500XL model is likely to make it’s debut in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with the cars to go on sale in Europe, by the end of this year.
The Fiat 500XL joins the ever expanding Fiat 500 range
The Fiat 500XL joins the 500L, the supermini and the convertible to become the fourth member of the 500 family, which just keeps on expanding, with the range continuing to grow with the 500X crossover coming in 2014.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed that although the name 500XL makes the most sense, it has not been guaranteed for the production version of the vehicle, so there is no confusion with the Fiat 500 X.
