Aston Martin recently turned 100 years old on the 15th of January, so of course there has been lots and lots of celebrations planned to mark this prolific event. There are to be a series of special centenary edition Aston Martins to mark the occasion, with the first one being the Aston Martin Vanquish centenary edition. The car that they lifted by helicopter onto the top of the World’s fourth tallest hotel the Burj Al Arab hotel, in a James Bond style daredevil stunt, also on the 15th of January.
What is so special about the centenary edition Aston Martin Vanquish?
The model is most notable for it’s bespoke paintwork, which takes a whole 68 hours to apply and according to the firm, Aston Martin boss Dr Ulrich Bez has personally helped develop. The centenary edition Vanquish has a graduated silver to black bonnet, a half black bootlid and an exposed carbonfibre roof panel. The front and rear Aston Martin wing badges are also sterling silver. There have been no actual bodywork changes, nor any to the powertrain. Meaning of course that a 565 brake horsepower 5.9 litre V12 still remains under the bonnet of the fabulous vehicle, allowing the car to reach 62 miles per hour in just 4.1 seconds.
When looking at the interior of the vehicle, there is even more sterling silver, for the door sill kickplates. Inside there is soft finish upholstery in leather, which has been previously seen on the £1.2m one-77. It’s black finish contrasting with silver stitching matches the bespoke paint job.
Unusual Gifts with the Aston Martin Vanquish centenary?
Forget about the usual things that come with a new car, floor mats, a full tank of fuel, not with this model. A presentation box is included with the car and contains two glass keys, two key pouches made from leather, matching the car’s trim, solid silver cufflinks engraved with Aston Martin, Bang & Olufsen headphones and a solid silver rollerball pen. It’s all about the silver with this model, also including a polishing cloth to keep that sterling silver trim shining.
If a top of the range Aston Martin Vanquish is a little bit of a stretch, then Aston Martin’s 100th Birthday can also be celebrated with centenary edition‘s of the V8 Vantage, DB9 or Rapide, with just 100 each being made.
