French Giant Renault have recently celebrated it’s electric vehicle, the Kangoo Van Z.E’s 10,000th registration. Renault celebrated their massive success at the Frankfurt Motor Show recently, when the keys to the 10,000th Kangoo Van Z.E’s model were given to Gerhard Dech, Deutsche Bahn’s Purchasing and Technical Director. The model is currently the best selling small electric van in Europe and actually accounts for around 10 percent of Kangoo Van sales. The model is particularly popular in France, it is actually the biggest selling electric vehicle in the country and has around 6,000 business customers.
Since the electric vehicles launch two years ago, the model has won the International Van of the Year Award
Since it’s launch two years ago, the model won the esteemed 2012 International Van of the Year Award, joining models such as the Transit Custom and the Ford Transit Connect. The van had a facelift in June, which saw changes to the front of the vehicle, along with new features like the R-Link multimedia tablet.
With electric vehicles such as the Renault Zoe already leading the way, the van market has a lot of catching up to do
With the Ford Focus Electric, Renault Zoe and Nissan Leaf already leading the way to great things in the electric vehicle game, the van market has rather a lot of catching up to do. Though, the Kangoo Z.E van is not the only van with zero emissions around. Volkswagen unveiled an e-load up! concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show recently, which is an electric delivery van designed for the city, that Volkswagen are hoping to push to production, providing that there is demand for such a model and the way that electric vehicles are fairing up in the motor industry at the moment, there probably will be.
