The brand new C-Class model from Mercedes is getting closer and closer to production and the model, which is a rival of the BMW 3 series, has been undergoing some intense winter testing, ahead of it’s official debut at the start of 2014, in the arctic circle.
What can be expected of the new Mercedes model?
Pictures that have been leaked of the vehicle while being winter tested, indicates that the styling is rather heavily influenced by the look of the new A-Class and S-Class. The new model gets a stronger and more aggressive stance than it’s preceding model with it’s wide grille and large three point star logo at the centre of it, along with oversized headlights. In a close up shot of the model that can be seen on the internet, it appears that it has been given the very same intricate headlights, as the most recent E-Class models.
At the back of the car, a more sculptured boot and thicker C-Pillars mirror the design of the new S-class flagship, whilst the twin exhausts are very tidily integrated into the rear bumper. It is no easy task taking on the current Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series, though Mercedes have said they have a wide range of models planned.
The Mercedes should be unveiled early 2014
The Saloon will be unleashed early 2014 and could even be appearing as early as the Detroit Motor Show 2014 and released along with the estate version by the Summer, with both a Convertible and Coupe said to be joining the Mercedes range in 2015, which will be taking on the BMW 4 series and convertible, although it has been said that these models will be released with a different name than the standard vehicle.
A range of ultra efficient both petrol and diesel engines can be expected, including a 4 cylinder unit, developed and built by Nissan, this is the first engine that has been built in the United States to be used within a mainstream Mercedes model, whilst a plug in hybrid model has also been planned which is said to be taking on the IS 300 h model from Lexus.
